Here is a little blast from the past.

We’re underway with preparations for the Fall Tour 2009 so I dug up this video from the tour of 2007 and I thought I’d share it.  I apologize in advance for a few titling problems in here, namely David Girolami is identified as Shawn Pucknell partway through.  Both are fine gentlemen.

I’m starting to get excited for this year, and I’ll tell you why.  This year has been rough for many studios.  I don’t like to go on about it because there are always ups and downs in this business, budgets come and go, and being over-reactionary doesn’t help anyone.  That said, this year has been a challenge for many.

The Fall Tour is a chance to show off the great work that is still getting done and enjoy the enthusiasm of the people who will come in next and help to make the industry even better.  I hope we will have a fine turnout and that this year lives up to everyone’s expectations.  Meanwhile, enjoy the 2007 video, the year the tour really started to take off.

Coca Cola Olympic Torch Relay

The Coca Cola Olympic Torch Relay is a special project – a screensaver created for use internally at the offices of the beverage maker.

Not just any screensaver, the Torch Relay is unique in that it dynamically keep track of important days and events, serving up special animations and reminders.  This allows people who have it installed to see the progress of the Olympic Torch during it’s progress to the games.

Other special events tracked dynamically by the screensaver include recognizing when the games have begun, listing how many days into the events the timeline has gone.  Also included was a countdown to the Special Olympics and tracking of important dates then as well.

Besides the dynamic features of the screensaver, the beautiful animation works to make this piece lovely to look at.  Oddly Studios worked hard alongside Henderson Bas to make the look and feel exactly what was needed to celebrate this important event.
