THE WORK/
The Wiserhood Slow Clap
The Slow Clap App is a very fun user experience that is built around the “Wiserhood” – a group of gentlemen who show up to salute their fellow man any time they stand their ground for dignity.
The Wiserhood has been a very successful campaign idea for the whiskey brand, and we were thrilled to be a part of it. We came up with something special for this one, overcoming some technical hurdles to take the user experience to the next level.
Simple User Interface
Using the Slow Clap App is pretty simple. After liking the Wiserhood page, the visitor is taken to an area where they can enter a message for a friend and send them a slow clap from the men of the Wiserhood. They can see the message scroll by in realtime behind the positioned actors, who look back realistically to watch the message scroll by, ending in a slow but dignified round of applause and a raise of the glass.
After reviewing the message, the visitor has the chance to send the Slow Clap off to their chosen friend, and this is where it gets really interesting.
Doing the Unlikely
We wanted the video message to play directly in the friend’s wall activity. This had never been done before, but by studying how Facebook itself accomplishes the in-wall video for itself and Youtube, we were able to duplicate the functionality. Now the user no longer has to click a link out to another area, but can see the message play right in Facebook – a much better experience, with increased opportunity for viral spread.
A project like the Slow Clap App calls for a variety of skills in video, programming, database work and social APIs, but the end result can be fantastic, and a lot of fun for people to use.
