THE WORK/
Microsoft Zune Launch
For the launch of the Microsoft Zune in Canada, MacLaren MRM approached Oddly to help get the word out to music enthusiasts.
We wanted to create a set of informative interactive videos that would show people exactly how the new device worked, and get them excited about trying one out. But how to do this when the device was not yet available? That is where our awesome animators came in.
With minute attention to detail, every aspect of the Zune’s navigation was recreated by hand, with the end result being indistinguishable from the actual interface. Every art asset was created, every movement timed to match the actual experience of using the music player, before it was even available to market.
Recreating the Interface
This careful reconstruction allowed us a lot of freedom in creative, and with this in place we were able to move on to showing the Zune in various conditions, going on the insight that music lovers tend to form communities around their music genre. We worked with the voice-over recordings, matching them to the animation and adding in sound tracks, mixing it all to provide the perfect listening experience.
Matching Rich Media
In addition to the interactive site videos, we concurrently produced a set of rich media banner ads to match the work being done for the main site. We carried forward the look and feel of the animation, and even created a low-res model of the device in 3D that would allow us to flip it around and show off the custom etch designs available for the player.
